Departments of Madrasa Rahmaniya
Madrasah Rahmaniya, Supaul Darbhanga
General Overview
Madrasa Rahmaniya is a prominent institution dedicated to spreading Islamic knowledge and practice, as well as eliminating innovations, superstitions, and un-Islamic customs from the region. It comprises several academic and training departments. Each department operates under specific principles, regulations, and discipline to ensure the proper religious, ethical, and intellectual development of students.
Administrative Department
Madrasa Rahmaniya, Supaul, offers formal education from elementary Arabic levels up to the study of Hadith. The institution follows the Dars-e-Nizami curriculum, supplemented with modern subjects such as History, Geography, English, Hindi, Science, and Mathematics, with appropriate arrangements for their instruction. Currently, 25 highly qualified teachers are engaged in teaching both Islamic studies and modern subjects. In addition to teachers, the institution has 23 staff members, including workers, volunteers, and preachers. This department also supervises student discipline, organizes mid-term and annual exams, and manages educational activities.
Hostel
The madrasa hostel accommodates more than 500 students, providing full lodging and meals. Seven teachers are appointed as hostel supervisors to oversee the students’ training, living arrangements, and welfare.
Department of Hifz and Tajweed
The Quran is the most sacred and blessed book revealed by Allah. Correct recitation is obligatory for every Muslim. Alongside Hifz (memorization), a dedicated Tajweed section operates under the supervision of eight skilled Huffaz and Qaris. Students are trained to recite the Quran with proper pronunciation and articulation (Makharij). For the past ten years, an annual event has been held where selected students are honored with the opportunity to recite the entire Quran in one day. Every year, numerous Huffaz graduate from this program. At the year’s end, distinguished students are awarded valuable prizes in the form of books and money and are bestowed with the “Dastar-e-Fazilat” (Turban of Excellence). May Allah grant them success.
Library
The madrasa has its own library containing over 10,000 valuable books on various religious and academic topics. Due to the growing number of students, the current space has become insufficient. Recently, generous donors have gifted new books, and glass cabinets are needed to store them properly. Madrasa Rahmaniya appeals to benevolent donors to contribute rare and authentic books on Tafsir, Hadith, Fiqh, Fatwa literature, and help in building a modern library.
Darul-Ifta (Fatwa Department)
This is one of the most important and permanent departments of the madrasa. It provides well-researched and satisfactory answers to religious questions received from various places. This department is in dire need of rare books on Fiqh and Fatwa and heavily relies on the support of benefactors. Currently, two highly capable and experienced Muftis are serving in this department. Thousands of questions have been answered so far.
Darul-Qaza (Judiciary Department)
This department plays a crucial role in resolving family, domestic, and social disputes among Muslims according to the principles of justice and equality outlined in the Quran and Hadith. Over 11,000 cases have been successfully resolved, and the service continues effectively. This department has been functioning under the supervision of the Shariah Emirate of Bihar, Odisha, Jharkhand, and West Bengal for over 66 years.
Food and Catering Department
The madrasa kitchen provides three meals daily — breakfast, lunch, and dinner — to approximately 500 needy students throughout the year. Four cooks are appointed, and the entire system is supervised by a Kitchen In-Charge.
Computer Department
Considering the importance of computer education in the modern era, this department was established a few years ago under the National Council for Promotion of Urdu Language (NCPUL), Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. The Rahmaniya Computer Center supervises its teaching and management. A one-year diploma course is offered in Urdu medium with instruction in Hindi and English.
Department of Dawah and Tabligh
A dedicated department for Dawah and Tabligh has been established to promote Islamic unity, moral reform, and the message of Islam. Teachers and students actively participate in missionary activities during their free time, visiting nearby villages and communities to give speeches and encourage people to live according to Islamic principles.
Construction Department
This independent department is responsible for the construction and maintenance of the main campus and branch buildings throughout the year. Experienced professionals work in this section. Currently, the madrasa has 105 rooms. Due to the increasing number of students and teachers, additional classrooms and facilities have become necessary. Ongoing projects include ten new rooms, a spacious mosque, and 25 new toilets and ablution areas. Some construction has already been completed. Considering the rising expenses, the administration hopes that supporters will generously contribute to make Madrasa Rahmaniya a model institution and help complete its development projects.
Electrical Services Department
Due to frequent power outages in the area, students faced significant difficulties in their studies. By the grace of Allah, a large generator has been installed. The electrical services department manages the supply of electricity, water, and related facilities.
Association for Reformative Development (Anjuman Islahul-Lisan)
To enhance students’ oratory and writing skills and develop their proficiency in Dawah and public speaking, the Anjuman Islah al-Lisan was established. Under the guidance of two expert teachers, weekly programs are held every Thursday from Maghrib to Isha. Students practice speeches, recitations, Naats, and poems in Urdu, Arabic, Hindi, and English. Semi-annual and annual competitions are organized, and prizes are distributed to motivate students. The association also has its own permanent library with approximately 3,000 books, including collections of famous newspapers, journals, and magazines from across the country.
