Introduction Historical Leadership
Darul Uloom Rahmaniya, located in Supaul, Birol, Darbhanga (Bihar), is an old and renowned Islamic seminary that has long been serving the cause of Islamic knowledge, promoting the teachings of the Qur’an and Sunnah, and producing notable scholars. The sacrifices and services of its senior administrators, caretakers, and teachers have played a vital role in the academic and administrative development of this institution. The following is a brief introduction of the respected administrators (Arbab-e-Ihtimam) along with short biographical notes.
First Rector (Mohtamim Awwal) Foundational Leadership
Hazrat Haji Syed Kamaluddin Sahib (رحمہ اللہ)
Hazrat Maulana Syed Kamaluddin (رحمہ اللہ) was the first rector of Darul Uloom Rahmaniya. He played a fundamental role in strengthening the foundation of the institution, organizing its educational system, and establishing it as a religious center in the region. His humility, honesty, administrative abilities, and affection for students are still remembered in the hearts of the locals and the graduates. During his tenure, the institution stepped towards stability and gained a distinct identity.
Second Rector (Mohtamim Duwum) Dedicated Service
Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Qasim Sahib Supaulvi (رحمہ اللہ)
Maulana Muhammad Qasim Supaulvi (رحمہ اللہ) was not only a dedicated and sincere administrator but also a freedom fighter. He silently, sincerely, and steadfastly contributed to the progress and development of Darul Uloom Rahmaniya. During his leadership, the discipline and internal structure of the institution were strengthened. His simplicity, sincerity, and hard work practically empowered the madrasa.
Third Rector (Mohtamim Suwwum) Expansion & Recognition
Hazrat Muhammad Usman Sahib Qasmi Grawalvi (رحمہ اللہ)
He was a distinguished thinker, a dignified and authoritative scholar of his time. Under his leadership, Darul Uloom Rahmaniya gained wide recognition across the Mithilanchal and Seemanchal regions. The madrasa enjoyed great prestige and influence among both common people and scholars. He played a significant role in raising the academic and spiritual standards of the institution, making the curriculum more comprehensive, and expanding teaching activities. During his tenure, several buildings were expanded, and facilities were greatly improved. His religious, academic, spiritual, and reformative services are remembered with deep respect. Under his supervision, the institution earned remarkable fame in scholarly circles. The departments of Daurah-e-Hadith and Darul Qaza were established during his period.
Fourth Rector (Mohtamim Chaharum) Balanced Leadership
Hazrat Maulana Shamsul Huda Sahib Qasmi Saharsavi (رحمہ اللہ)
Maulana Shamsul Huda Saharsavi (رحمہ اللہ) was known for his balanced temperament, wisdom, and thoughtful leadership. He strengthened the educational and spiritual atmosphere of Darul Uloom Rahmaniya, organized the team of teachers effectively, and made several important academic decisions that placed the institution on the path of further progress. His era is considered significant in terms of academic and administrative development.
Fifth Rector (Mohtamim Panjum) Scholarly Excellence
Hazrat Maulana Muhammad Saadullah Sahib Siddiqi Qasmi Harsinghpuri (دامت برکاتہم)
Hazrat Maulana Saadullah Siddiqi Qasmi belongs to a noble scholarly family. He possesses deep expertise in Fiqh, Usul al-Fiqh, Tafsir, and the laws of inheritance. He has produced thousands of students. He loved this institution deeply, protected its finances with honesty, and worked tirelessly for its growth. With sincerity and devotion, he played a vital role in strengthening the organizational structure of the madrasa. Under his guidance, special focus was placed on student discipline, moral training, and creating a virtuous environment.
Sixth and Present Acting Rector (Mohtamim At-Hazir) Contemporary Vision
Hazrat Maulana Dr. Muhammad Shahabuddin Nadwi Azhari (مدظلہ العالی)
The current rector, Hazrat Maulana Dr. Muhammad Shahabuddin Nadwi Azhari (مدظلہ العالی), is a distinguished scholar well-versed in both religious and contemporary sciences. After completing his Alimiyyah and Fazeelat from Darul Uloom Nadwatul Ulama, he pursued MPhil and PhD in Hadith from Al-Azhar University (Egypt). He has traveled to numerous countries, closely studying their educational and training systems, and incorporated these experiences into his work. Recognizing his academic excellence, Al-Azhar Administration appointed him as the General Secretary of the World Federation of Al-Azhar Alumni (India Branch). He also supervised a major institution in Egypt known as Dar al-Sahabah (for boys and girls). He prefers to live with an academic and research-oriented temperament. With deep concern, wisdom, and continuous effort, he works tirelessly for the advancement of the institution, hoping to restore the past glory of Darul Uloom Rahmaniya. His long-term planning has already ushered the madrasa into a new era. During his tenure, the institution is witnessing:

  • Better environment for teachers and students
  • Expansion in educational and reformative activities
Under his supervision, the institution is emerging not only as a major center in the region but throughout the state of Bihar.
Conclusion Continuing Legacy
The construction, development, and scholarly services of Madrasa Darul Uloom Rahmaniya, Supaul are, in fact, the result of the tireless efforts of its esteemed rectors, responsible administrators, respected teachers, and staff members. At present, the Madrasa is blessed with the dedicated services of two deputy rectors: Hazrat Maulana Mufti Mohibullah Qasmi, Finance Administrator of the Madrasa, and Hazrat Maulana Mufti Muhammad Touheed Mazahiri. They work day and night with utmost diligence in managing both internal and external affairs. In the academic and structural development of the institution, these two honorable personalities—along with other teachers and staff—play a vital role. Similarly, with regard to the accounts and other important administrative responsibilities of Madrasa Rahmaniya, the institution is served by Master Syed Mohammad Saqib Nizami, the successful successor (grandson) of Master Syed Kamal Ahmad (late), former Deputy Rector and Treasurer of Madrasa Rahmaniya, Supaul. He is currently serving as the Office In-charge, Treasurer, and Trustee. The sincere efforts of these individuals have made this institution a center of knowledge, training, religious service, and spiritual guidance. May Allah Almighty fill the graves of all the deceased with light, and may He accept the noble efforts of the current administrators and teachers. Aameen.
